Hull FC v Castleford Tigers Preview
Hull FC welcome the Castleford Tigers for this East Yorkshire vs West Yorkshire derby that has the potential to be one of the matches of the season.
The Black and White side of Hull have lots of quality, a huge fanbase and the finances tov compete with the top teams but they have struggled with the consistency needed to be a top performing side challenging for honours.
If they are to make that step up to the next level, home matches against the likes of the Cas Tigers are matches that they not only need to win but that they need to put top performance sin to build confidence amongst the club.
The same can also be said of the Tigers who also have a quality side and who also want to make the step up to been a club consistently challenging for silverware and they too will be going all out for the win in this one and that is what sets this one up to be such an intriguing game and one that should be an entertaining 80 minutes of action.

Stadium
The MKM Stadium is home of the Airlie birds and is host of this game and as one of the biggest and best stadiums in the competition, it is a fitting host.
The modern stadium offers all you could want from a sporting venue and whilst the size of the ground can lead to a relatively poor atmosphere in some matches, when the Tigers are in town with their big following, we are all set for a great atmosphere to give the players all they need to give us a highly entertaining 80 minutes of Rugby League action.

History
Although these 2 clubs are amongst the most historic and successful in the sports history and they are of course both based in the heartland county of Yorkshire, it is perhaps somewhat surprising that the 2 haven’t met in many major finals throughout the years.
That is not too say there haven’t been some incredible matches down the years and that there haven’t been some that grabbed the headlines.
One such occasion came in the 1983-84 season when the 2 sides met in the final of the Yorkshire Cup in a match that the Airlie Birds ran out 13-2 winners at Elland Road in Leeds.
It didn’t take long for the 2 sides to meet once again in the same competition when Castleford gained revenge with a 31-24 victory over there East Yorkshire rivals in the final of the same competition at a match also played in the city of Leeds but this time at Headingley Stadium.
