Huddersfield Giants v Warrington Wolves Preview
The Huddersfield Giants welcome the Warrington Wolves for a cross-Pennines battle form the Super League.
Both the Giants and the Wolves have lots of quality throughout their squads and that sets this up to potentially be a great match and it is a game that will give us a huge insight into both clubs and it will likely have a big say on how things pan out for both clubs.
The Wolves are a club who go into each and every season with the pressure to perform and to pick up silverware whilst the Giants are a club who should really be battling it out for the play-offs at least.
If the clubs are to reach those goals, these are the type of matches that they need to win and that is what makes this such an intriguing game.

Stadium
The John Smiths Stadium in Huddersfield is home to the Giants and is the host of this game.
The stadium is a modern all seater stadium that offers great views from all seats and whilst it can struggle for atmosphere, when teams with big following such as the Wolves are in town, the players will have the perfect setting to perform and to entertain us all.

History
If you knew little about the history about the sport, you would perhaps expect these 2 giants of the sport to have had a number of great battles in the sports biggest matches and thankfully that has been the case.
One of the earliest matches to go down in the records books and to announced both clubs as top sides came in the final of the 1912-13 Challenge Cup final when the 2 met each other, with Huddersfield running out 9-5 winners and picking up the silverware.
The 2 also met in the final of the 1932-33 edition of the cup, when Huddersfield also won the match which was a close one throughout by 1932-33.
It took until the 2009 season when the 2 sides met in a cup final once again, when it was the Wolves who defeated the Giants by 25 points to 16.
It hasn’t just been in the Challenge Cup that the 2 sides have enjoyed success and that they have met in finals as the 2 reached the final of the 1948-49 Rugby Football League Championship First Division final, the earlier version of the Super League Grand Final.
In one of the closest ever finish, it was Huddersfield who won the national championship by 13 points to 12 to pick up the title.
