Wigan Warriors v Catalans Dragons Preview
The Wigan Warriors welcome the Catalans Dragons to the North West of England from the South of France for a game that has the potential to be a blockbuster and for a match that will likely have a huge say on the outcome of the season for both teams.
The Warriors go into every game with the expectation to win or to at least to be competitive but they know that when they are playing at home, that expectation gets ramped even more as they play in front of their large and demanding fan base.
Both sides are full of international stars and good youngsters and both have enough quality throughout there teams to win the game but a lot will depend on how the Dragons play.
Far too often they struggle over on this side of the Channel but when they do show up, they have shown time and time again that they can go to the very best and not only push them all of the way but to even pick up the points.

Stadium
The DW Stadium is host for this one and whilst on its day it can be amongst the best stadiums in the country and right up their amongst the most atmospheric, when the Dragons are in town it can often be flat and that can lead to some lethargy amongst the players.
Hopefully that isn’t the case in this one as both teams have enough quality to give us 80 minutes of nonstop action and entertainment.

History
Although many teams have yet to build up much of a history of big match and famous moments against the Dragons, the same can not be said about Wigan as these 2 have shared a number of famous moments since the French team joined the Super League.
The history between these 2 sides goes all of the way back to the Dragon first ever game when the 2 sides met at the Stade Aime Giral in Perpignan on the 11th of February 2006.
On that occasion it was the home side who gave the huge crowd in attendance something to cheer with a 38-30 win over the Warriors.
On the 29th of July 2007, the 2 sides met in the Challenge Cup semi-final in a match that the Dragons pulled off a shock win to become the first ever French team to qualify for the Challenge Cup final.
In the 2018 season, the Dragosn went one better by defeating the Wolves in the final to become the first French team to win the trophy and that grabbed headlines not just in France but throughout Catalonia.
That in turn led to FC Barcelona inviting the club to play a match at the world famous Camp Nou (Nou Camp) stadium in Barcelona.
It was Wigan who were chosen as the opponents for the Dragons and when the two teams met, they set a record attendance figure for a non-Grand Final Super League game when nearly 32,000 fans watched on in Spain.
