History
Although the 2 sides both have long and successful histories, it has been during the Super League that the 2 have played some of their biggest and most iconic matches.
The biggest match up between the 2 in the summer-era came in the 2012 season when Warrington faced the Rhinos in their first ever Super League Grand Final appearance.
In what was an entertaining game throughout, it was the Rhinos who came away with the win after a 26-18 win in front of over 70,000 fans at Old Trafford Stadium.
The 2 have also faced off in the Challenge Cup final during the same era and it has proven to be a successful formula for Warrignton who defeated Leeds in the 2009 final by 30 points to 6 and in the 2012 final by 35 points to 18, with both matches taking place at Wembley Stadium.
Historic matches between the 2 goes back much further than the summer-era however including in the 1960-61 season when the 2 faced off in the RFL Championship First Division final to decide the champions of England.
On that occasion it was Leeds who prevailed in a 25-10 win.
The 2 sides met in the Championship final in the 1935-36 season here it was Leeds who also picked up the win by a score of 18 points to 2.
