Wakefield Trinity v Catalans Dragons Preview

Wakefield Trinity welcome the Catalans Dragons from the South of France to West Yorkshire in a game that both sides will be targeting for the win.

Both Wakefield and Catalans have the quality to take on anybody on their day and come away with the points but both also have a lack of depth that means they lose form and confidence just as quickly as they gain it.

Whilst picking up wins against struggling teams will keep them safe and the odd win against the top clubs will give them a boost, it will likely be matches against each other and against those teams battling it out for the top 6 that will make or break their season and will mean that they will be looking upwards rather than downwards in the table come the end of the season.

Neither team impressed in round 1 with Wakey losing heavily at Hull KR whilst Catalans suffered a big home defeat to Hull KR.

Team News

Wakefield make 2 changes with Connor Bailey and Joe Arundel coming in to replace the injured Danny Brough and Titus Gwaze who has left on loan.

Catalans make just the 1 change with David Mead been replaced by Antoni Maria so Israel Folau will still have to wait.

There is no way to twist things and to say that Belle Vue is a great stadium and a great place to watch Rugby League.

The ground is falling down and is quite depressing whilst any atmosphere that gets created is often lost with the lack of roofs but the ground does give a good advantage to the home team.

It must be difficult for any teams to feel like it is a big match when running out at Belle Vue and with the stands right up against the pitch, away players know that they are in a tough time.

Wakefield Trinity v Catalans Dragons Prediction

Here at RLBet, we give out predict for who we think will win and also what we think the winning margin will be but don’t forget that the unpredictable nature of the Super League, this should only be seen as our view.

After an off season of showing off the very best of the sport with the support of Rob Burrow and Mose Masoe to the blockbusters signings of SBW, all of the build up to the 2020 season was positive.

At least that was until Les Dracs announced the signing of Israel Falou in the week before kick off and whist he will take no part in this game, it will be fascinating to see how just having at the club impacts there preparations for this one, especially on the back of their hugely disappointing performance at home last time out.

The fact for former NRL, Aussie Rules and RU star isn’t playing should help them out but Wakefield also need to show huge improvement on last week and especially in front of their home fans.

This one really is a flip of the coin but we are going to back Wakey for the win as whilst neither showed any signs of coming away with the points last time out, the Dragons are notoriously poor travellers.
