The AJ Bell Stadium has been the home of Salford ever since moving there from the Willows in 2012 and when there is a big crowd in attendance, it can produce a fantastic atmosphere and that tends to be the case when St Helens are in town.

History
As 2 historic clubs based in one of the sports heartland areas, it is no surprise that both Salford and Saints have been involved in some massive matches of the upmost importance and it is also not too surprising that some of those matches have been against each other.
Arguably the biggest matchup between the 2, and certainly the biggest in the memory of most fans in attendance that day, came in the 2019 season when Salford shocked the Rugby world to reach that season Super League Grand Final.
At Old Trafford and in front of 65,000 fans, they came up against a Saints team who were the heavy favourites and in the end the game did get away from Salford as they lost 23-6.
It wasn’t the first time the 2 had battled over the league title however as Salford won the 1973-74 title when Saints had finished the runners up.
