History
Despite been two of the oldest clubs in the sport and been based in the sports heartland, there have been little in the way of big matches between the 2 sides in terms of big finals etc but one big moment of history between the 2 came in the build up to the Super League.
In the 1995 season, Salford finished 6 points clear of Hull FC but were not chosen to join the new Super League after they refused to merge with near neighbours Oldham.
That did lead to some bad blood between the sides but after Salford were soon promoted to the new top flight, that was soon all but forgotten.
