Salford headed across the M62 to New Craven Park to face Hull KR in the Million Pound Game where a place in the Super League was on the line.
In what turned out to be one of the best matches of the summer era, it was Salford who ran out winners by 19 points to 18 thanks to a last second drop goal from Gareth O’Brien in a moment that has gone on to become iconic.
