Catalans Dragons v Wigan Warriors Preview
The Catalans Dragons welcome the Wigan Warriors from the North West of England to the South West of France for what is always one of the standout matches on the calendar for local fans.
These 2 have formed quite a rivalry over the years, although it is certainly a friendly one which was of course capped off by a match at the iconic Nou Camp Stadium.
These 2 sides have given us some great matches down the years and they will for some time to come.
The Dragons have a number of ex-Wigan players in their ranks but they will need no extra encouragement to perform in this one as the hosts know that if they are to go on and compete for silverware, they have to take on and defeat teams such as the Warriors and especially at home.

Stadium
The Dragons’ Stade Gilbert Brutus home ground in the French city of Perpignan plays host to this one and with this always been one of the biggest attendances of the season for the hosts, it is also set to be quite a spectacle.
The stadium is a mix of the new and the old and on most match days it is one of the most colourful scenes in rugby but when the Warriors are in town, it is quite a sight in the stands and best of all that often equates to a great atmosphere and one that propels the players to give us quite an occasion out where it rally counts on the field.

History
The 2 histories of these giants of the Super League have been entwined ever since the Dragons admittance into the competition for the 2016 season.
It was the Warriors who headed down to the South of France to take on Les Dracs in their inaugural Super League match, which was played at the Stade Aime Giral, a Rugby Union stadium in Perpignan, due to work been done on their own ground.
In a sign of things to come, the game was played in front of a large and vocal crowd and featured a high scoring close game in which the Dragosn sent their fan home happy with a 38-30 victory.
The 2 sides also came together to provide another moment of history when the Dragosn defeated the highly fancied Wigan in the semi-final of the 2007 Challenge Cup to become the first ever non-British side to reach the Wembley showpiece.
The following year, the Dragons reached the end of season play-offs for the first ever time and whilst they one there first ever play-off game against Warrington, they lost to Wigan to be eliminated from that years campaign.
In 2019, the 2 sides once again made headlines across Europe and throughout the Rugby League world when they faced off against each other in the iconic Camp Nou (Nou Camp) stadium, home of the footballing giants FC Barcelona.
The match set a record attendance for a regular Super League game, the biggest crowd featuring a French team and the record crowd for a game of Rugby in Spain when just under 32,000 fans saw the Dragosn run out 33-16 winners.
