Wakefield Trinity v Hull FC Preview
Wakefield Trinity welcome Hull FC for a West Yorkshire vs East Yorkshire derby that will likely have a huge say on both clubs seasons.
Wakefield have one of the smallest budgets in the league and as such survival can be there only goal going into each season and it is something that they continue to achieve.
If they are to do that once more this season, they will likely have to pick up wins at home whilst for the Airlie Birds, they need to pick up wins against sides such as Wakefield as they have ambitions to not only finish in the top 6 but to be pushing the play-offs and even for a place in the Grand Final.

Stadium
Belle Vue can be a tricky place for away teams to visit as not only is it quite a depressing place to watch the sport but it is a ground that is hard for players to get motivated in.
That is especially true for players from a club such as Hull FC who are used to the comforts of the MKM Stadium.
At Wakefield’s Belle Vue ground the fans are right next to the players and that also makes it a difficult place for visiting players, so the hosts will be wanting to use all of that to their advantage.

History
As two of the most historic Rugby League clubs in the world, who are both based in the sports English heartlands, it will come as little surprise that there has been a long history of the 2 sides facing off against each other in big matches.
One of the earliest occasions came all of the way back in the 1908-09 season when the 2 sides met in the final of the Challenge Cup.
On that occasion it was Trinity who came away with the silverware after a domain 17-0 victory.
It didn’t take long for the Black and Whites to gain some revenge for that loss however as the 2 sides met in the 1913-14 cup final as well.
It that final, it was the Airlie Birds who kept their opponents scoreless as they ran out 6-0 winners to claim the trophy for themselves.
It took until the 1959-60 season for the 2 sides to meet in the showpiece final once again as they both headed to the iconic Wembley Stadium in London.
It was Trinity who dominated and won the trophy by outscoring their opponents 38-5 to take the silverware back up the M1.
The 2 sides have also met in major finals on the county level as well including the 1946-47 Yorkshire Cup final where it was Wakefield who picked up the cup with a 10-0 win at Headingley Stadium in Leeds.
