History
As you would expect from 2 of the sport’s most historic clubs and especially from 2 clubs based in the sports heartlands, there have been numerous great moments and matches between the 2 sides down the years but there are some that have gone down in the record books due to the importance of them.
One such occasion came in the 2021 season when the 2 sides met in an entertaining Challenge Cup final at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London where it was Saints who headed back north with the trophy after a 26-12 victory.
One of the most famous finals between the 2 came in the 1965-66 season wen the 2 sides met in the first ever BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final at Knowsley Road Stadium where Castleford came away with the inaugural trophy in a narrow 4-0 win.
