Hull KR v Castleford Tigers Preview
Hull Kingston Rovers take on the Castleford Tigers in an East Yorkshire vs West Yorkshire match up that is always an entertaining affair and one that is often unpredictable at best.
No matter when you head to the east side of Hull to take on Rovers, you know you are in for a difficult match and you know that you will have to play against a large and vocal crowd and also against the conditions.
From the depths of winter to the middle of summer, you can always face tricky conditions against Hull KR in terms of the wind coming off of the Humber but the biggest challenge when taking on the Robins for any team is the inconsistency of the hosts.
On their day they can be a match for anybody but from time to time they can look like a team who have never met each other.
The Tigers tend to be amongst the most consistent sides and no matter who they put out on the park, they are a team where every member knows there role and that sets this up to be a fascinating game.

History
These 2 historic local rivals have had plenty of incredible battles down the year both in local competition, such as the Yorkshire Cup and also in national competitions, such as the league and Challenge Cup but there is always one match that is best remembered by fans and one match that stands out as arguably the most historic game that the 2 have played each other in.
That match was the 1986 Challenge Cup final when the Robins and Castleford headed down to London from Yorkshire to play at the former Wembley Stadium.
In front of a huge crowd of over 82,000 fans, those who were there in attendance were treated to tone of the best finals of old time and a match that had one of the closest finishes of all time as the Orange and Black of Castleford ran out the winners over the Red and White of Hull Kingston Rovers by 15 points to 14 in a game that will live long in the memory of all of those who were in attendance and who watched live on national television.
At the start of the Millennium, the 2 sides found themselves outside of the top flight for spells and as too of the biggest clubs in the 2nd tier, it was no surprise to see them meet in the final of the 2005 Championship Cup.
What the 2 clubs gave us was another monumental game, that was in the balance throughout as Hull KR ran out 18-16 winners in a huge crowd of just under 10,000 fans.
On the local level, the 2 Yorkshire rivals met in the final of the 1971-72 Yorkshire Cup final where it was the Robins who pick up the silverware by 11 points to 7 in another close battle played at Belle Vue Stadium in Wakefield.
The 2 met in the final of the same competition in the 1985-86 season when Hull KR once again ran out the winners in a close match, with the score this time been 22-18 in a match played at Headingley Stadium in Leeds.
