Catalans Dragons v St Helens Preview
The Catalans Dragons make the long trip from the North West of the England to the South of France for a match up between 2 teams full of quality.
The Dragons have built a strong squad which is full of international stars and young and upcoming French players but for a number of reason they haven’t been able to develop that into the sustain level of success they probably should have done.
One team to use a similar formula of big names stars and promising youngsters is the Saints but they have shown time and time again that they have that extra aspect needed to be successful.
Whilst the Dragons struggle for consistency and they struggle with ill-discipline, the Saints players know exactly what there roll is in the team and they are one of the most consistent teams in the competition.

Stadium
The Stade Gilbert Brutus in the French city of Perpignan plays host to this game. The stadium is a mix of the old and the new and is amongst the most atmospheric stadiums in the sport.
When there is a big away following, as is the case more often than not when the Red Vee are in town, the location of the away fans allow them to be easily heard and seen by the away team players and that can be a big boost for away teams.
The home fans do show great support for their own team, especially when they are winning or playing well but they are also quick to show their displeasure as and when the hosts under-perform.

History
Due to the Dragons, under their former guises, having spent much of their existence in the French game, they have little history of meeting British clubs in major matches but one club that Les Dracs have already built up a history of big moments against is the Saints.
It was against St Helens that the Dragosn made their first ever final appearance against when they also became the first ever non-British side to reach the final of the Challenge Cup.
In that 2007 final held at Wembley, in the first final at the new stadium and in front of one of the biggest crowds ever, it was St Helens who ran out the winners.
It was the same two clubs who met in the 2021 Super League Grand Final, which become the first Grand Final to feature a non-British club and once again it was St Helens who prevailed when they picked up a narrow win by 12 points to 10.
