St Helens v Salford Red Devils Preview
St Helens welcome the Salford Red Devils for a north west derby that could and likely will have a huge say on things at both ends of the table.
Saints go into every season expecting success and if they are to go on and challenge for titles and trophies again this season, these are exactly the type of matches that they need to be winning.
For Salford, survival is the main goal but they have shown time and time again that on their day they can take on anybody and whilst it would be a huge upset for them to win, they know that it will be a massive boost for their survival hopes and also a bonus victory.

The Totally Wicked Stadium plays host to this game and as one of the biggest and most modern stadiums in the competition, it is a fitting host.
The stadium, which has been home to Saints ever since the 2012 season, offers a great mix of seating and standing area and helps to create a good atmosphere to help the players produce their very best.

History
In the summer era, these 2 teams have often found themselves at opposite ends of the table in the top flight or in different divisions altogether but in the 2019 season the two teams became entwined as they battled it out at the Super League Grand Final.
Infront of almost 65,000 fans it proved to be 1 game too many for the Red Devils who lost 23 points to 6, but in many ways it was Salford who grabbed the plaudits due the success of their season.
The 2 sides have a long history going back to the early days of the sport, so it is no surprise that they have also met in a number of big matches and finals.
In the 1983-74 season, the 2 sides also battled it out over the then Rugby Football League Championship First Division title when it was Salford who prevailed that year and it was Saints who finished runners up in the chase to be national champions.
