Wigan Warriors vs Leeds Rhinos
The Wigan Warriors take on the Leeds Rhinos in a match that you can watch live online via our Super League live streaming partners.
Going into round 2 of the 2019 Super League it is surprising to see these 22 giants of the game both starting on 0 points (Wigan actually on -2 pending an appeal), so despite this only been the 2nd game, it is already looking like a must win for both sides as they look to build form and confidence before the top 4 get away from them.
Leeds have shown just how damaging a poor start can be even for the top sides such is the competitive nature of the Super League, so they will know the importance of this game, especially with them starting with 4 straight away games.
The Warriors on the other hand not only need the win to get back to 0 points but they also need to build some confidence ahead of their World Club Challenge match up against the Sydney Roosters.
In front of what will be a huge crowd on Friday night, we are expecting an improved performance from both sides as whilst both looked good in spells in round 1, both simply made too many errors and looked lost in attack on too many occasions. The Rhinos also looked poor down the middle which is somewhere the Warriors tend to excel.
Form
Both teams lost in the opening round with Wigan losing at Saints and Leeds losing at Warrington.
Team News
Wigan make no changes to their squad with both Tony Clubb and Gabe Hamlin named despite injury concerns.
Leeds make 2 changes to their squad with Cameron Smith and Jamie Jones-Buchanan both dropping out to be replaced by Nathaniel Peteru and Harry Newman.
Prediction
This is a hugely difficult match to predict as whilst both teams are full of quality and both teams are used to winning, neither impressed in round 1 and both looked poor in attack.
As mentioned, the Rhinos were week down the middle and their back 3 lacked communication. Up against a side such as Wigan, they will need to be much improved but in a game that is set to be close throughout, 1 thing that could make the difference is Zak Hardaker.
Whilst off of the field there are huge question marks over him, on the field he is one of the stars of Super League and up against his former side, he will surly be going all out for a man of the match performance and that could be the difference.
