Wests Tigers v Melbourne Storm

Wests Tigers meet the Melbourne Storm over the Tasman Sea in Auckland for this highly anticipated match up from round 5 of the 2018 NRL season.

The Tigers have been the surprise packed of the NRL this season and go into this round in 4th place with only the 1 loss this season and that did come in controversial circumstances in an overtime loss to Brisbane.

The Storm on the other hand are one of the under-performing teams of the NRL season to date with just a 50%-win record heading into this round. That see’s Melbourne start the round in 7th place but level with the Knights down in 12th place.

As one of the favourites for the title in 2018, the Storm really need to put a run of wins together as they have struggled to find consistency not only with their form but also during the 80 minutes of a match, which hasn’t been helped by poor discipline this season including the first ever sin-binning for captain Cameron Smith.

The Tigers have won 3 and lost 1 game so far this season with that 1 loss coming in over time.

Melbourne have won 2 and lost 2 of their opening 4 games including a 8-10 home loss to the Tiger’s in round 2.

Team News

The Tigers make no changes to their squad for this one despite playing on the Easter Monday.

Will Chambers is suspended alongside Finucane so Young Tonumaipea goes into the centres and Kenny Bromwich into loose forward.

The Storm are always strongest when leading in a game with them having arguably the best game management in the league.

If they do get out to a lead, it could set us up for a Wests attack v Storm defence and that in many ways plays in to the hands of the nominal home side.

Normally you would still back the Storm but their defence hasn’t been to the same level his season and their discipline has been poor so we are going to back the Tigers for the win in an entertaining game.
