Wakefield Trinity vs Wigan Warriors
Wakefield Trinity welcome the Wigan Warriors to Belle Vue for this round 10 match in a game that will have a massive say on the rest of the season for both teams and a match that really is a must win for both.
Wakefield are having another fantastic season and despite injuries t their top players, they are still in 4th place heading into the round.
Unfortunately for home fans, things are incredibly tight in the league this season and they are just 2 points ahead of Hull KR in 8th and just 4 points ahead of Wigan who are joint second bottom of the table.
That of course means a win for Wakefield will keep them in the play-off picture and will give them day light between a team still expected to be pushing for the top 4 whilst a loss will see them dragged into the scrap between so many sides in the mid-table.
For Wigan a win will see them move closer to the paly-offs and potentially away from the relegation zone whilst a loss could see them end the round bottom of the table such is the fine lines of the 2019 Super League season.
Wakefield have won 3 of their last 4 matches and both of their last 2 at home.
Wigan have won just 2 of their last 5 matches and come into this game on the back of a bad loss at Castleford in a game that they seemed to have wrapped up the points by half time. It will be fascinating to see how they react to that loss.
Wakefield name the same squad that defeated the Giants last time out.
Wigan will be out Dom Manfredi who is ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury but Sam Powell does returns and Joe Shorrocks could make his debut.
This is one of those matches that could go either way and will likely be in the balance throughout, no matter if one teams opens up a big lead or not.
Both sides are much better in attack than defence but from a neutral point of view, the game should be a great watch as both teams play contrasting styles.
Wigan continue to paly with a small pack and hoping their outside backs can get the upper hand and whilst that was the case in the first half last week against Cas, as soon as the Tigers added some size in the 2nd half, Cas dominated.
Unfortunately for Warriors fans, Wakefield have one of the biggest packs in the league and they have some skill in that pack so we are going to back the home side for the win but a Warriors victory wouldn’t surprise us either.
