Wakefield Trinity vs St Helens

Wakefield Trinity welcome St Helens to Belle Vue Stadium for this 2nd round match up from the Rugby Super League in a game that both teams will be looking to answer questions in.

Wakefield were expected to win in the capital last weekend against the newly promoted London Broncos but in the end they came home with a thrashing.

Saints on the other hand played well in their derby against Wigan and in the end it was a comfortable win but now St Helens have to show that they can do play just as well at a tricky place such as Wakefield whilst the home side need to show that last week was a one off.

Saints are the favourites for the title for many fans and if they are to go on and top the table come the end of the season, these are exactly the sort of matches they should not only be winning but that they should be winning comfortably whilst Wakefield know that if they are to break into the top 4, they need to be defeating the big boys at home, especially on the back of last week.

St Helens defeated Wigan at home in round 1 whilst Wakefield lost away at London.

Team News

Wakefield have been hit by injuries ahead of the visit of Saints with both James Batchelor Tyler Randell out. Craig Huby and Danny Kirmond step up.

Saints make 1 change with James Bentley replacing Jack Ashworth.

Last weekend loss in the capital will have hit the home sides confidence and belief and one of the last teams you want to face when not at full stride is the Saints- a team always full of confidence but even more so after their win in the derby.

Wakefield certainly have the quality to take on and defeat anybody and the trip to Belle Vue is always a difficult one but the vocal Wakey fans can work for and against their club, so if Saints can start like they did against Wigan, this could turn into a one sided affair.

With Wakefield looking to show their true ability after last weeks second half showing, hopefully that doesn’t happen but even if Wakey keep in the game, the extra quality of Saints should see them home.
