Wakefield Trinity vs Catalans Dragons

Wakefield Trinity take on the Catalans Dragons in the opening match at the 2019 Magic Weekend in the 16th round of the 2019 Super League season and the great news for all rugby fans is that you can watch all of the action live online via our Super League live streaming partners.

Wakefield will come into this game with a point to prove after suffering another loss down in the capital last time out. That loss saw them end the round down in 6th place but as they are just 2 points behind Hull FC in 3rd and their opponents in Liverpool, it just highlight snot only the importance of the win for Wakey but also the Dragons, who come into this game full of confidence.

The Dragons impressed in front of a record breaking crowd in Barcelona last time out and as one of the form teams in the competition, they will looking at closing the gap on the top 2 but this match could be a case of after the lord mayors parade for them.

Form

Wakefield have won 3 of their last 5 matches but lost last time out against London.

Catalans have won 4 of their last 5 matches including each of their last 3.

Team News

Wakefield make 3 changes with their new NRL import Kelepi Tanginoa going straight into their squad. Anthony England and Matty Ashurst come in to replace Jordan Crowther and Chris Annakin.

Les Dracs make 2 changes with Matty Smith and Lambert Belmas returning in place of the injured Greg Bird and Michael McIlorum whilst Sam Tomkins is still out.

Prediction

This is a difficult match to predict as we won’t know how Wakefield will react to last week’s disappointment against London whilst we also won’t know how Catalans will react to last week’s win at the Nou Camp and all that went into the build up and aftermath of that game.

If both teams paly at their best, both offer great threat going forward, with the Dragons perhaps slightly stronger but Trinity have the better defence so we are going to back them for the win but this one really isa toss of the coin.
