The 2017 State of Origin Series is the 37th time the event has taken place and it will once again be a best of 3 match series before the Queensland Maroons and the New South Wales Blues.
Queensland have been the dominant team for much of the series existence and they will be the heavy favourites for most in the 2017 State of Origin series, especially as they have the honour of hosting 2 of the matches from the ever-impressive Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
New South Wales have the second match of the series which will come from the former Olympic Stadium, known as ANZ Stadium due to sponsorship reasons, in the city of Sydney.
Kevin Walters is the coach of Queensland and will be looking at maintaining his 100% record as head coach after winning last year in the first year he was in sole charge of the Maroons. Laurie Daley is the New South Wales head coach once again but he has a record of only 1 win from his previous 4 attempts.
The 2017 State of Origin series starts at the end of May and concludes midway through July with each match taking place on a Wednesday evening in Australia, which is Wednesday morning in the UK and Europe.
The Queensland Maroons have won 10 of the last 11 series with the NSW Wales Blues only win in that run coming in 2014. Last year the QLD Maroons won the series 2 games to 1 but that win for the Blues came in the last game after the series had already been wrapped up.
Queensland have to be the favourites for this series as they have the bulk of the Australia squad, they have the constancy after naming a settled for so many years now but most importantly they have the belief and expectation that they will win.
