St Helens vs Hull FC

St Helens welcome Hull FC to the Totally Wicked Stadium for this round 12 match up from the Super League in a game that both teams will be looking to back up from great derby day wins.

I guess we can start calling St Helens the run away leaders of the Super League as they have now opened up a 4 point gap at the top but as Salford showed against Warrington, there is the chance of a shock in every game and Saints simply cannot let up on their quest for the League Leaders Shield.

This is a game that could be a match of the season contender as Hull FC are starting to find some form and come into this game on the back of a huge confidence boosting domination of their city rivals Hull KR on Good Friday. That win see’s them start the round in 4th place but they are now just 2 points behind Warrington in 2nd.

Both teams are in good form with 4 wins from their last 5 matches with Saints winning their last 2 and Hull FC on a run of 3 straight wins.

Saints are still undefeated at home whilst Hull FC’s only loss on the road came in the opening round.

Team News

Saints make a whole raft of changes for this one with Adam Swift and Joe Batchelor returning from loans to replace Mark Percival and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook. Jack Ashworth replaces Zeb Taia with Jack Welsby replacing Theo Fages.

Hull FC also rotate there squad with Chris Green, Ratu Naulago, Cameron Scott, Jordan Thompson, Brad Fash and Jez Litten all coming in.

This is a difficult match to predict as both teams have made wholesale changes and both come into the game on the back of great performances.

That should set thing sup for a pleasing spectacle but in the end it is difficult to back against the Saints.

Hull FC certainly have the quality to take on and defeat anybody on their day but Saints have the belief that they will defeat anybody and that will likely be the difference in a close game.
