St Helens vs Catalans Dragons

St Helens and the Catalans Dragons head to the Macron Stadium in Bolton for the first of 2 matches in a Challenge Cup semi-final double header and the great news for rugby fans is that you can watch both matches live on BBC1.

The Dragons will go into this match as the big underdogs but that is exactly the situation they found themselves in when they took on the mighty Wigan Warriors in their first ever Challenge Cup semi-final.

On that day it was a masterclass from Stacey Jones that won the day ad if the Dragons are to take on and defeat the Saints, they will need there exciting half back Josh Drinkwater to take control of this game.

St Helens have been the dominant side so far in 2018 and they go into this match on the back of 14 straight wins and with 18 wins from their last 19 matches.

The Dragons will take some heart from the Saints quarter final match up where Hull Fc pushed Saints all of the way and nearly pulled off a shock win but thankfully for Dragons fans and neutral fans is that the Dragons go into this game in great form themselves.

Les Dracs have really turned around their season over the past 3 months and whilst the Saint swill have 1 eye on wrapping up the League leaders Shield and pushing on for Old Trafford, the Dragons can solely focus on winning this game and going through to Wembley as they have wrapped up safety in the Super League for next year and have little chance of making the play-offs.

As mentioned Saints have simply been dominant this season with just 2 losses all year long and they have won 14 matches straight coming into this one.

The Dragons have lost just 1 of their last 6 matches with 4 wins and a draw- although that loss did come last time out against Wigan in a match they had to paly much of the it with just 12 men out on the field.

Whilst the Dragons will cause some shocks in the game and will push the Red Vee hard, we can only see a win for St Helens.

Saints have been far above all overs this season but this is there first real chance to show that they have it when it counts and that will make them difficult.

The Dragons do have the talent to win but they still cannot perform for the full 80 minutes and in a cup-semi, you just cannot give your opposition are easy periods.
