St Helens v Wigan Warriors

St Helens take on the Wigan Warriors from the Super League play-offs and the great news not only for fans of these 2 rivals but also for all rugby fans in general is that you can watch all of the action live online via our Super League live streaming partners.

Matches between these 2 giants of the Super League are always amongst the best of the season but this one should take that to a whole new level as not only is local bragging rights on the line but a place in the 2019 Super League Grand Final is also up for grabs.

Whilst that will put lots of pressure on both sides, they also know that if they lose, they will get a second chance next week, so both teams should be able to play with some freedom whilst still going all out for the win.

Wigan are the form team of Super League at the moment but they face the team that dominated so much of the 2019 campaign and they also face a Saints team who will be looking to right the wrongs of their cup final loss.

Both teams come into this match on the back of fantastic runs of form where there winning runs can be counting in terms of months rather than matches.

Team News

St Helens make 1 change with Aaron Smith replacing Matty Costello.

Sam Powell has been named by Wigan despite him injuring his wrist last weekend.

Dan Sarginson is injured, with Ollie Partington coming in.

Derby matches are always difficult to predict but when you ramp that up to the match also been for a place in the Super League Grand Final and you have a game that is almost impossible to back the winner.

Saints have the edge in attack whilst Wigan have the edge in defence but one big difference between the 2 sides is that Wigan often push the laws and rules of the sport to the edge and in a game such as this where the atmosphere will be white hot, that can and does go too far.

If the discipline of Wigan slip, it could prove to be just what Saints need and even if it doesn’t, Saints have shown this season that they are a step above, so we are going to back them for the win but we really wouldn’t be surprised by an away win.
