St Helens v Salford Red Devils

After another fantastic season of ups and downs, great moments of skill and off field dramas, the Super League Grand Final is once again upon us and the great news for fans is that the whole event can be watched live online via our Super League live streaming partners.

The 2019 Grand Final once again comes form Old Trafford but this year it is a true underdog vs the giant affair as St Helens, the dominant side of the season, League Leaders Shield winners and Challenge Cup finalist, take on the Salford Red Devils who main goal for the season was to simply survive- both on and off of the field.

Not only do Salford now have their near future secure but they have the chance to create history and put their name on the Super League trophy.

Saints have arguably one of the strongest squads ever established in the Super League and certainly one of the strongest over the past decade but after been the big favourites last season only to come up short, they will be going all out to make sure that does not happen once again, especially on the back of already losing at Wembley this season.

Salford have continued to grow throughout the season and whilst it was there attacking flair that excelled during the warm summers months, they have adapted to the paly-offs well and now it is there defence which stands out with just 12 try conceded in their last 2 outings.

Up against a Saints team full of confidence after a big win over Wigan and who have threats across the park, they will once again need to show that defensive guile if they are to come away with the biggest upset in Super League history.

Saints have won each of their last 6 matches and are undefeated in the play-offs.

Salford have won 5 of their last 6 matches but whilst Saints were having a week off last week, they had to play against Wigan.

Team News

St Helens name the same squad for this one that defeated Wigan 2 weeks ago.

Salford also name an unchanged squad.

As a Grand Final should be, this is a hugely difficult match to predict despite it been almost a David v Goliath type match up.

St Helens will be the favourites for many and they are for us but Salford go into the game with nothing to lose and in Jackson Hastings, Salford have a player who can almost win the game by himself, as in big matches likes these, it is often those moments of individual magic that make the difference.

A lot will depend on the early moments of this match as you have to expect Saints to much more a ease in front of the big crowd and with the nerves both sides will face but if Salford can stay in the game early on, they will be tough to break down.

We are going to back the extra experience and quality of Saints to prevail in the end but we certainly wouldn’t be shocked by Salford pulling off the biggest fairy-tale win in a Grand Final during the Super League era.
