St Helens v Castleford Tigers

St Helens take on the Castleford Tigers in the 27th round of the 2019 Super League and the great news for all fans is that you can watch all of the action live online via our Super League live streaming partners.

Both teams come into this one in need of the win but for differing reasons.

Hot on the back of their shock loss at Wembley, Saints need the win for the confidence boost ahead of the end of season run in and play-offs whilst the Tigers need the win for the points in their race for a top 5 finish.

That sets the match up to be a great one but it all depends on how focussed the Saints are on this game after the final last week and a week of blaming everybody but themselves for the loss.

Form

Saints have won 5 of their last 6 in the league including each of their last 3 but they did of course lose the cup final last weekend.

The Tigers have won 4 of their last 6 including both of their last 2 and they come into the game on the back off a weekend off.

Team News

Saints make 2 changes from their cup final squad with Lachlan Coote out due to concussion protocols. Jack Welsby replaces him whilst Dom Peyroux is replaced by Matty Costello.

Cas also make 2 changes with Liam Watts and Calum Turner both returning to take the places of Cory Aston and Tuoyo Egodo.

Prediction

It is difficult to know how Saints will react to their cup final loss. Often teams who lose at Wembley use that as motivation and put in a top performance but it can also lead teams to go into a game unfocussed and with the talent Cas have, that could spell danger for the home side.

We are going to back Saints to use that loss as motivation due to the experience they have in their squad and therefore we are going to back the home side for the win although we really wouldn’t be surprised by a Tigers win.
