Salford Red Devils vs Leeds Rhinos

The Salford Red Devils welcome the Leeds Rhinos to the AJ Bell Stadium for this brought forward round 10 match up that could already have a huge say on both teams seasons going forward.

The Red Devils have been the shock team of the opening 2 weeks in a positive way whilst the Rhinos have been the shock team of the competition in a negative way.

Salford were expected to struggle this season but they start this round top of the table and as the only side to have a shut out so far whilst the Rhinos who spent heavily during the off season and who went into the new season expecting to challenge, are sitting bottom of the table with no wins to date.

If Salford can pull off another big win in this game it could cement them up for a top 6 push whilst another loss for Leeds could see them dragged into the relegation scrap.

Salford have defeated Huddersfield and London in the last 2 weeks whilst Leeds have lost to Wigan and Warrington in the opening 2 rounds.

Team News

Salford have named the same squad for the 3rd straight game, which is unsurprising.

Leeds, perhaps more surprisingly, have named the same squad that lost to Wigan.

This is yet another tough game to predict this season and whilst many expected Leeds to show improvement this season and be battling for the play-offs and for Salford to be struggling, it is the complete reversal at the moment.

Salford certainly have quality in their squad and with them been able to pick consistent squads, they are showing consistent levels of performance on the field and that is something the Rhinos certainly don’t have.

On paper the Rhinos have arguably the stronger squad but they are lacking in confidence and perhaps in a bit of quality in key positions whilst the spine of Salford is quality and all of their players are full of confidence.

With the margins set to be fine throughout this game, that extra confidence could prove hugely important and in the end could be the difference.
