NRL Round 3 2020
As with every match from this round, it is difficult to predict the outcome of this game as we are in unchartered waters where there isn’t any pre-season form to take into account.
The Eels were flying in the opening 2 rounds of the season and it will be fascinating to see how the break has impacted them in what should be an entertaining encounter to kick start things once more.
One big advantage the hosts do have is that they haven’t had to travel and all of the difficulties that entails at the moment, so we are going to back Brisbane for the win.
Prediction: Brisbane Broncos by 8
Once again, there is little to go on for this one but with the Titans starting off the season just where they left off last season, it is difficult to back them in any game and when you couple in the travel factor once more and we are going to back the hosts for the win.
Prediction: North Queensland Cowboys by 12
This is a Sydney derby with a difference as not only is it been played on a neutral venue but it will of course have no fans in attendance and it is often the fans that really make a derby a derby.
The Roosters struggled in the early rounds of the season whilst the Rabbitohs were only steady at best but it is difficult to see how that early form will affect any of these games.
The Rabbitohs have had a few issues to deal with during the down time and that could prove the difference in what is a match where the outcome really is a flip of the coin.
Prediction: Sydney Roosters by 6
Whilst this period has been tough on all of the players, coaches, medic al staff and officials for all clubs (and of course everybody else in the world), it has been especially tough on the Warriors as they have had to remain away from home and based in Australia.
That adds an extra element to this game as it will be fascinating to see whether that has bonded them and motivated them or if there focus is elsewhere.
We do feel that it could work in their favour against a Saints team who started slowly this year, so we are backing them for the win.
Prediction: New Zealand Warriors by 8
The Sharkies take on Wests at the impressive Bankwest Stadium in a match that really is a toss of the coin.
Both teams started the season slowly and we have nothing to tell us how they are fairing in the run u to this one but in a game that will likely be high scoring, we are going to back the Sharkies as they tend have a better defensive structure.
Prediction: Cronulla Sharks by 8
Both the Storm and Raiders went into the season amongst the favourites to reach the Grand Final and both started the season well but with things in such a state of flux at the moment, it is difficult to know how the teams will do in this one.
Both teams have match winners and both have strong defences so we are expecting a close and low scoring game where someone will step up to claim the win.
It is 50/50 as to which team that player will be playing for but with the Raiders having to make the long trip down to Victoria and all that traveling entails at the moment, we are going to give the nod to the hosts.
Prediction: Melbourne Storm by 4
The Panthers and the Knights both made good starts to the season with Newcastle bee the surprise team of the early rounds but a lot has happened since then and it will be fascinating to see who can regain their focus the quickest and who can get back up to speed the quickest.
The Knights have a nucleus of talented superstars whilst the Panthers are a much more hardworking team and in a game where the players will be rusty, that could prove the difference so we are going to back Penrith but this one really is a game that could go either way.
Prediction: Penrith Panthers by 6
2 of the most unpredictable teams in the NRL meet in the most unpredictable of circumstances so it will be no surprise that this game is a tough one to predict.
Played on a neutral venue in front of no fans just adds to that hard to know what will happen nature of the game but we do have to pick a winner and it is always difficult to back the Doggies as they have a habit of making life hard for themselves so we are going to back the Sea Eagles who we just feel have more attacking threats in what will likely be a scrappy end to the weekend.
Prediction: Manly Sea Eagles by 6
