NRL Round 2 2020
Kick Off: 07:05
Venue: ANZ Stadium (Sydney)
The Canterbury Bulldogs welcome the North Queensland Cowboys to Sydney from Townsville for a match that will likely be close throughout and that will likely be a battle between both teams big forward packs.
Both teams have strong defences but the difference could be in the Cowboys attack which, when on form, is much more fluid and creative and if the is tight, it will take a special moment of creativity to break through.
Prediction: North Queensland Cowboys by 8
Kick Off: 07:00
Venue: WIN Stadium (Sydney)
The St George Illawarra Dragons welcome the Penrith Panthers for this Sydney/ New South Wales derby between 2 of the most unpredictable teams in the NRL.
Both teams have the quality to take on and defeat anybody on their day and both teams have the ability to make silly mistake and lose matches on their own.
On the plus side, the Dragons do tend to do better in their traditional home grounds and that is why we are going to back them for the win in this one.
Prediction: St George Illawarra Dragons by 8
The Brisbane Broncos take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs in a blockbuster match up from the NRL as Wayne Bennett returns to the Broncos with his current team, the Rabbitohs.
Souths have lots of quality but they have found it difficult to score enough points and they will know that against the Broncos at Suncorp, they will have to be at their best to score.
The Broncos are always a tough beat at home and they will take huge confidence from their opening round win at the Cowboys so we are going to back the hosts for a narrow win in an entertaining complex.
Prediction: Brisbane Broncos by 8
Kick Off: 04:00
Venue: Eden Park (Auckland)
The New Zealand Warriors head to Eden Park for what should be a highly entertaining match up against the Canberra Raiders.
The Warriors are one of the most entertaining teams going forward but the offshoot of that is that they struggle in defence and that is what is often there down fall.
Unfortunately for the Warriors they come up against a hugely talented Canberra side who are great in attack and defence and that is why we are backing the Raiders for the win.
Prediction: Canberra Raiders by 18
The reigning and defending NRL champions and the current World Club Champions take on the Manly Sea Eagle sin what we can only see as a comfortable win for the Roosters.
The Chucks are amongst the favourites for the title once more this season and Manly are a club that you never know what you are going to get.
Whilst they certainly have the quality to pick up the win, it takes something special to get the points against the Roosters.
Prediction: Sydney Roosters by 14
The Cronulla Sharks will be hoping for a strong start to the season as they look to get back to challenging for the title in Australia but that will be difficult as they welcome the Melbourne Storm.
The Storm may not have the star studded squad of old but they have a team that every member knowns there role and they have a never say die attitude to defence.
The Sharks are perhaps more fluid in attack but in the NRL and especially at this stage of the season, a stronger defence will win you matches so we are going to back the Storm for a narrow win.
Prediction: Melbourne Storm by 10
Kick Off: 05:05
Venue: Leichhardt Oval (Sydney)
Both of these 2 clubs have the ability to excite and to win against anybody but both have struggled for consistency. That makes this a highly difficult match to predict and it is one that could easily go either way but as we have to give our prediction, we will back the hosts to take advantage of home field advantage.
Prediction: Wests Tigers by 4
Kick Off: 07:15
Venue: CBUS Super Stadium (Robina)
The Eels will need to win matches against the likes of the God Coast if they are to have any chance of reaching finals football and we are going to back them to do just that.
The Titans struggled with errors once more in the opening round and if you keep giving a chance against a team with the attacking threats of Parramatta and you are in with little chance of picking up the points.
Prediction: Paramatta Eels by 10
