Huddersfield Giants vs Castleford Tigers
The Huddersfield Giants take on their West Yorkshire rivals, the Castleford Tigers in this round 10 match up from the 2019 Super League season and the great news for fans of both teams is that you can watch all of the action live online via our Super League live streaming partners.
The Giants form has improved greatly as of late but they go into this game on the back of a 1 point loss at Wakefield last time out and it will be fascinating to see how that affects their fragile confidence.
The Giants start the round down in 10th place and just the 2 points off of last spot but with things so tight, a win in this one will see them go back into the top 4 picture whilst a loss will see them dragged into the relegation scrap, even more so than they are now.
For Castleford, this is a great chance for them to build on their great win over Wigan last time out in a game that saw them dominated in the first half but only for them to come out and blitz Wigan in the 2nd half in a game of the season contender.
They will know that they will have to perform for the full 80 minute sin this one and if they do and come away with the points, it will cement them in the top 4.
Huddersfield have won 3 of their last 5 matches but they have only one once at home this season- although that did come in their last home game.
Castleford have won just 2 of their last 5 and have lost their last 2 on the road.
Huddersfield injury woes are improving as they welcome back the experienced trio of Aaron Murphy, Jake Wardle and for Tiger Joe Wardle.
Castleford also bring a trio of experienced players into their squad with Mike McMeeken and Junior Moors returning from injury whilst they also name Daniel Smith who could debut after recently joining from the Giants.
Nathan Massey, Alex Foster and Will Maher drop out.
This is a hugely difficult match to predict as both teams are playing well below par at the moment and both are missing a number of key players.
The Tigers have looked really strong in the second halves of their recent matches against Wigan and Leeds but they have struggled badly in the opening 40 minutes.
Daryll Powell will need a find a way to right that as it is hugely difficult to win Super League games playing well for just 40-50 minutes but the good news for travelling fans is that the Giants are also a team who struggle to put in an 80 minute performance.
If either side can step up and play well for even 60-70 minutes, they will run out the winners such is the closeness of the playing squads but with that unlikely, we are going to back the Tigers for the win as when they are on form during a game they are playing a much higher level than the Giants and are much stronger in attack.
