England vs New Zealand

England welcome the New Zealand Kiwis to Liverpool for the second of a 3 match series between the 2 giants of the International game and the great news for fans is that the game can be watched live on BBC TV.

England will be full of confidence after winning the opening match of the series but that game just highlighted the fine margins between the 2 sides and shoed us all how close this game is set to be.

New Zealand certainly had their chances to win in Hull but in what was a close game it was a moment of brilliance form Oliver Gildart that proved to be the more than worthy difference between the sides.

Until the final 20 minutes England played a safety first style that you would expect from Bennett whilst New Zealand looked the more creative. In this game we will expect England to take more chances, as it showed in the 2nd half that that was the best way to break down the Kiwis whilst we expect New Zealand to use their pace much more as they seem to have the beating of England pretty much across the park in that regard.

England have won 4 of their last 5 matches with their only loss been in the World Cup final against Australia. Last week, they defeated New Zealand with one of the best tries seen in a Rugby League international.

New Zealand have won just 1 of their last 5 matches but that 1 win was against Australia.

Team News

England are without captain Sean O’Loughlan who is injured so local favourite James Graham takes the arm band with Adam Milner of Castleford call up into the squad.

Luke Thompson is likely to take over at 13.

Adam Blair is named in the Kiwi squad after pulling out of the first test at the last minute.

As was the first game, this match is difficult to predict and looks set for another close finish.

Unfortunately there will likely be a relatively small crowd due to such things as time changes and even a date time but hopefully the England fans in attendance will get behind the team more.

England showed that they have the quality to defeat New Zealand in Hull but they didn’t perhaps have the belief. They will know have that and that should lead to England been on the front foot more.

Only time will tell if that gives more space to the pacey backs of New Zealand but if England can win the forward battle, the win is theirs for the taking.

After spurning opportunities for tires in the first game, New Zealand will likely be on the attack more in this game and that should create a great spectacle.
