Cronulla Sharks v North Queensland Cowboys

The Sharks take on the Cowboys in a blockbuster NRL Finals play off) match that could easily have been a Grand Final match if it wasn’t for injuries and other issues throughout the season.

This is a do or die game for both sets of players as the loser will go out and their season will be over. As the reigning NRL champions, the Sharks will be going all out to make sure they are at the Grand Final to defend their title but they come up against a Cowboys team who also know just what it takes to get through the play offs and make it to the final.

Both teams somewhat limped over the line but the confidence boost from a win in this one could really be the catalyst for a great end to the season. Despite their poor end to the season the Sharks finished in 5th and only just missed out on the top 4 whilst the Cowboys only just secured an 8th place finish thanks to the Dragons losing on the last day of the season.

The Sharks won just 2 of their last 5 matches but those 2 wins did come in their last 3 games including a win in the last round of the season at the Knights.

The Sea Eagles lost 5 of their last 6 matches including a last round match against the Broncos at home.

Team News

The Sharks welcome back both Jack Bird and Wade Graham. That see’s Capewell and Ramien drop into the reserves.

The Cowboys make no changes to their squad.

The long trip down to Sydney for the Cowboys will be somewhat helped by the fact this is played at the neutral Allianz Stadium but the Sharkies will still have the lion’s share of the crowd.

The Sharks looked a shadow of the title winning team from last year for a lot of this season but they did at least manage to pick up a couple of confidence boosting wins in the last 3 rounds whilst the Cowboys limped over the line.

That could perhaps see the Cowboys play with some more freedom but with the long trip down to Sydney and with so little confidence in the Cowboys, we can only see a win for the Sharkies in this one.

Our Prediction: Cronulla Sharks by 10
