Wigan Warriors Season Preview
The Warriors had a poor season, by their incredibly high standards, in 2019 and they will be looking to make major steps forward as whilst they overcame a slow start, they never really looked up to the pace when the business end of the season came around.
Whilst Wigan have lost one of there home grown stars, they have recruited well and with a quality over quantity recruitment process during the off-season, they will likely take their place back at the top table in 2020.
The good news for fans is that off of the field, the Warriors have been much more settled and Adrian Lamb has had a proper off season to get the players ready to play his style.
Squad and Transfers
Wigan have one of the strongest squads in the league and arguably the strongest depth due to their incredible youth conveyer belt.
Over the off-season, they have targeted areas of their squad that needed strengthening and they have brought in first teamers who will strengthen those positions form the off.
They have brought in good go forward (Burgess and Clarke), great finishing (Bibby) and incredible creativity (Hastings), all of which will make them a force once more this season.
Reasons To Be Positive
There is lots to be positive about for Wigan fans as they have one of the best squads, some of the competitions best players and we expect them to be battling for all trophies this season.
Biggest Concern
There really aren’t many concerns aside from the injury to Widdop that saw him miss so much of last year. If it has weakened his shoulder and he suffers a recurrence, it will impact the Warriors hugely.
Prediction
We expect the Warriors to be battling it out at the top end of the table throughout the season and to reach at least 1 final whilst we wouldn’t rule out more silverware going into the Wigan trophy cabinet over 2020.
League Prediction: 1st-4th
