Salford Red Devils v Leeds Rhinos

The 2nd placed Salford Red Devils take on the 3rd placed Leeds Rhinos in what is arguably the tie of the round. Both teams are on 26 points, both are in similar form and both will be looking to take 2nd place in the league and get a morale boosting win ahead of the Challenge Cup semi-finals coming up soon.

With both teams so evenly matched coming into this one it will more than likely come down to which wins out between the attack of the Red Devils and the defence of the Rhinos.

Form

Salford have won just 2 of their last 5 in the league but one of those wins did come last time out against Huddersfield. At home, they have won 7 of their last 9 but they have won just 1 of their last 3.

The Rhinos have won 4 of their last 6 matches but struggled to a win at home against Saints last time out. They have won just 1 of their last 3 on the road.

Team News

The Red Devils are without Todd Carney, Mark Flanagan and Logan Tomkins with Jake Bibby, Dan Murray and Josh replacing them.

Leeds have both Danny McGuire and Jamie Jones-Buchanan back but are without Rob Burrow and Brett Ferres.

Prediction

The Red Devils are without Todd Carney, Mark Flanagan and Logan Tomkins with Jake Bibby, Dan Murray and Josh replacing them.

This is one of the most evenly matched games of the weekend and if we get anything like the quality and excitement of the other match between the top 5 on Thursday, we could be in for a cracker.

Leeds have the confidence to grind out results in close match ups and as we expect this to be close throughout, Leeds are our favourites, whilst Salford have suffered a few narrow losses this season.

The loss of 3 key players for Salford, including Todd Carney, will also work against them but we certainly wouldn’t write off a home win especially if the Red Devils can get off to an early lead.

Our Prediction: Leeds Rhinos by 4
