Leigh Centurions v Halifax
The Leigh Centurions welcome Halifax RLFC in a match that will have a huge bearing on the success or failure of this season and if the 2 will meet next season.
Leigh’s 2017 season has been full of shock wins against top teams and big losses against struggling sides and that has continued throughout the Super 8’s where they have won matches you thought they may struggle in and then lost games you expected them to win.
With matches running out quickly and their return to the Super League proper still in the balance, the Centurions simply cannot afford any more slip ups starting with this match against Halifax.
Leigh start the round in 5th place and just 1 point ahead of London whilst Halifax are in 8th spot without a win in this section.
Whenever a full-time team comes up against a part-time team they have a big advantage in terms of fitness but in this one Halifax must also overcome the fact they are backing up a Sunday game with a Friday game whilst Leigh have had an extra day’s rest.
The Centurions have now lost 3 of their last 4 matches but they were incredibly unlucky not to at least get a point at Warrington last time out in a match they lost by just 2 points. At home, they have won just 2 of their last 11 matches including losses in both of their home matches in the Qualifiers.
Halifax have now lost their last 5 matches and each of their last 3 on the road.
With Leigh still having their season on the line and with this been a full time team against a semi-pro team, we can only see one winner and that is the home team but we also expect the Fax players to make things difficult for Leigh, especially early on.
Our Prediction: Leigh Centurions by 16
