Leeds Rhinos v Hull FC
The Leeds Rhinos welcome Hull FC to Headingley in the play offs semi-final in match that could easily be one of the matches of the season as these 2 Yorkshire rivals fight for the right to feature in the Super League Grand Final.
The Rhinos finished the Super 8’s in second place and 5 points ahead of Hull Fc but Hull finished the season strongly and had to cope with winning the Challenge Cup Final in August.
The Rhinos know just how hard it is to win at Wembley and keep your league form going so they will know just how much the Airlie Birds will want to add the Super League title to their cup trophy win.
Leeds too know just how special a Grand Final appearance is so they too will be fully motivated.
Over the regular season and the Super 8’s the Rhinos scored 749 points whilst Hull scored 714 points. Leeds conceded 623 whilst Hull Fc conceded 655 and whilst that does imply that the Rhinos attack and defence is slightly stronger, it also shows just how close they have been this season and how tight this match is likely to be.
This is simply a must watch match for all fans of Rugby League and one that you can do online via Sports Stream Rugby League.
The Rhinos have won 4 of their last 5 matches but it has been their strong home form that the Rhinos season has been built around. At Headingley they have won their last 6 matches and 10 of their last 11.
Hull FC have returned to form over the last couple of weeks and put in one of the strongest performances of the season away at Castleford last time out, although it was against a weakened Cas team. That will have been a huge confidence boost for them, especially as they have only won 3 of their last 6 matches.
The Rhinos make 3 changes to their squad with Brett Ferres, Stevie Ward and Brad Singleton all coming in.
Hull FC make 1 change with Jordan Thompson replacing Steve Michaels.
This is as a bought an even a match up on paper as you could get at this stage of the season and whilst that should lead to a fantastic match, it does make it a difficult one to predict.
Leeds will be the favourites and with the confidence and belief they have at Headingley, that s justifiably the case but we just feel that Hull Fc have the edge in the creativity stakes and their edge defence and attack is bigger and stronger.
In a match set to be as tight as it is, we are going to predict the Airlie Birds to fly high and head to Old Trafford.
Our Prediction: Hull FC by 6
