Hull Kingston Rovers v Catalans Dragons
The Robins are all set for a party on Friday night as they welcome the Catalans Dragons to East Yorkshire just a week after securing there return to the top flight at the first opportunity.
Whilst the Rovers fans in attendance will be having a relaxed time no matter what the score of this one, the Dragons fans at the ground and watching on TV will be on edge throughout as their season could easily be on the line in this one.
The Robins have won 5 from 5 to wrap up a top 2 finish but with promotion secured it will be interesting to see if they are still focussed and if they have an interest in wrapping up a top place finish in the Super 8’s.
For the Dragons, however the Super 8’s has been hard work and they go into this round of fixtures in 4th place but with 2 games left, they can either still miss out on the playoff game or even finish in the top 3, such is the fine margins of this stage of the season.
The Dragons will need to be much improved on their performances so far in the Super 8’s but whilst there win over Featherstone was unconvincing, they at least showed the determination to come away with the points.
Hull KR have won all of their 5 matches in the qualifiers including all 3 of their homes matches to date.
Catalans have won 3 of their 5 matches in the Qualifiers with all 3 of those wins coming against the teams coming up from the Championship.
The Robins make wholesale changes to their squad with players carry knocks getting the chance to rest after securing promotion. Ben Cockayne captains the side for is last home appearance before joining York next season.
The Dragons make 2 changes with Paul Aiton and Iain Thornley returning in place of the injured Rémi Casty and Fouad Yaha.
With Hull KR resting players and already looking to next year this is a match the Dragons simply have to win and with their season still on the line, that is what we believe will happen in what is likely to be a high scoring match.
Our Prediction: Catalans Dragons by 8
