Gold Coast Titans v Cronulla Sharks

The Gold Coast have given their season a real boost over the last couple of weeks and they will be looking to take advantage of the Origin period once again as they come up against a dangerous Sharks team who will be impacted hard by Wednesday’s Origin 3 match up.

Cronulla are well placed in the league, coming into this one in 3rd spot but they are only 6 points clear of Penrith in 9th, so they have little room for manoeuvre especially in a game they really should be winning.

The Gold Coast are down in 13th spot and with a gap of 6 points between them and the Dragons in 8th, only a win will keep alive their outside hopes of the top 8.

The Titans ended a 4-match losing run against Wests and now they have won their last 2.

The Sharks have been up and down recently but have managed 3 wins from their last 5 including a big win last time out at the Roosters.

Team News

The Titans make no changes to their squad which means Jarryd Hayne, Jarrod Wallace and Nathan Peats are all named to back up from State of origin duty.

The Sharks also name their Origin stars to back up with Valentine Holmes, James Maloney, Andrew Fifita, Wade Graham and Jack Bird all set for double duty.

James Segeyaro is on the extended bench whilst Kurt Capewell replaces Joseph Paulo on the bench.

With so many players named to back up form Origin duty this match could get scrappy in places and it should work to the favour of the home side although we do expect the Sharks to have enough to pick up the win.

They have shown over the last couple of seasons they can cope well with this period and they have so much more talent across the park.

Our Prediction: Cronulla Sharks by 8
